Lake Erie Spring Steelhead

Spring steelhead fishing is all about stream flow, water color and water temperature.  If you have the time to plan and execute a trip, do it. You will catch fish.

Don’t let the weather hold you back or delay your plans until you get “spring-like” temperatures. Lake Erie is in spring mode when the tributaries are free of ice.  That is the only criteria you need.

As the spring progresses, you will see steelhead, suckers and bass crowding into your favorite stream.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocks smolts.  They are a necessary and annoying part of spring fishing.
