Planning a steelhead trip

Always begin a trip or planning for a trip by checking the USGS Water Data for the tributary you plan to fish and keep track of water temperature in the streams and in Lake Erie.  Web cameras also show real-time flow, wave action on the lake and a glimpse of fishing pressure. You can see that the anglers in this photo failed to follow the first rule of steelhead fishing - check water and weather first! They do not stand a chance, but you need to give them credit for trying!
